Gallery Label
The Golden Age was a mythical period of abundance and plenty when the god Saturn, shown here on a cloud, introduced agriculture into Italy. This prosperous time is illustrated by dancing, amorous scenes and the consumption of food and drink. The print was made after a drawing by Bloemaert, who is also represented by a drawing of the goddess Diana.
