The jewelry and cigarette case on display here were gifts to the museum from Ella Loose, a local philanthropist, and Lucy Drage, a local artist and interior decorator.

Women collectors were especially important in Kansas City during the 1930s. They collected a wide variety of objects, often acquired during their travels abroad. Research on their collecting can be difficult because their records and activities are often undocumented or combined with those of their husbands.

Take a close look at this detail of the micromosaic necklace. A micromosaic is made of very small pieces of colored glass put together to form an image.

Provenance

Lucy Drage (1876-1965), Kansas City, MO, by 1937;
