[1] According to dealer Marc Leo Félix, in documentation provided at the time of the object’s purchase, NAMA curatorial files. This may be Joachim John Monteiro (1833-1878), a Portuguese/British engineer and naturalist who oversaw mining operations in Angola from 1858-1876.
