DescriptionIn the left foreground, situated in a rocky landscape, is a male figure (Christ), whose limp body is carried on a white sheet. His body is carried by two men(Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea). His feet rest on a marble pedestal which is inscribed: HVMANI/GENERIS/REDEMPTO/RI. A weeping woman stands behind the body of Christ; another grieving woman (Mary Magdalen) stands behind her with arms upraised. A male figure stands behind her. To the right of this group is a woman lying on the ground who has fainted (the Virgin Mary); two women kneel beside her. To their right is a standing man (Saint John).
