DescriptionA stack of balls combining pale orange, red and brown shapes to the left of center, set against dark green shapes outlined in gold, set in turn against a blue background. The background and green shapes are intersected with black lines. A blue paintbrush facing down is visible at the top of the print; to its left, what appears to be a pendant on a wide ribbon. Below the tip of the paintbrush, an upside-down R that is perhaps held in a blue fist. At the right edge of the print, a color scale.Gallery LabelBenito Huerta titled Temporary Like Achilles after the Bob Dylan song of the same name. For Huerta, this work “attempts to convey vulnerability using an inverted map to portray disharmony in an unbalanced world. The linear patterning between the map and circles creates an abstract and random pattern. The color bar identifies the palette used to create this work. The preceding watercolor and painting of the same title were both dark and somber. Mike Sims brightened the colors and enlivened the content of the work, transforming the tone, resulting in a pleasant surprise.”
