DescriptionImage of a bearded man standing with his hands, covered in bees, raised up to his closed eyes. He's wearing a light blue collared shirt with cuff links.Gallery LabelIn New Mexico, Holly Lynton met a beekeeper named Les who had been practicing for 30 years. "I realized he had no fear," she recalls. He refused to wear protective clothing, so he could feel the insects and sense their mood. He often spoke to them in Spanish.
Les asked Lynton if he could bring the bees to his face for her photograph. "He very slowly moved his hands up, and the bees swarmed all around. Afterwards, he said he couldn't hear anything because the buzzing was so loud. I think he was just deep in this mediation and the sound of the bees."
