This distinctively shaped ewer was used for serving wine or water. The spout and handle imitate bamboo or reeds, and the body forms a Chinese character, shou , longevity. The fresh palette of glazes against a black background is characteristic of a polychrome enamel technique developed with increased trade between Europe and China during the Kangxi Period.
