DescriptionImage of a painting of a boy and a girl wearing roller skates. They are depicted in simple outlines with broad swaths of paint.Gallery LabelThese two smiling, roller-skating teenagers, arms akimbo, are rendered with inaccurate bodily proportions. They nonetheless convey the joy and camaraderie promised from a trip to a local roller rink in Hammond, Louisiana. Dow pictures these subjects with characteristic appreciation for the earnestness of the illustration and a respect for the individuals who painted it.
