DescriptionImage of a painting on wall depicting three gas station pumps.Gallery Label
The unknown artist of this rustic gas station illustration understood the need to create a sign large enough to attract passing cars from a distance. Bolting plywood panels together into a basic but workable surface, the maker simply drew the outlines of gas pumps and a car wash without concern for accurate perspective or details. Driving past at a high speed, a driver would nevertheless understand the available services.
