DescriptionA cast iron umbrella stand with protruding railing and removable drip tray. A crested semi-circular-arch of pierced symmetrical stylized plant and flower forms sits atop an overall rectilinear shape. Below the arch, a rectangular frieze is ornamented with open, symmetrical patterns and designs including sinuous plant forms. The central back of the stand has two stylized star forms that flank the upper corners of an open-pointed arch, below the open functional railing. The bottom rail, which holds the undecorated drip tray, includes a single solid line of zigzag banding. The stand was cast as a single piece and included the mark “Coalbrookdale” on the interior bottom support. The drip tray is also a single cast and marked with a production number, No. 42-43.
