DescriptionA silver jug with a long neck and spout, a single handle, and a hinged lid with a finial. Decorated around the shoulder with an Egyptian-inspired motif of a winged disc surrounded by two rearing cobras. The spout is channel-like; open along its top like a trough. The lid is recessed into the neck of the vessel. It has an arch shaped opening in the front of it so that the lid does not have to be raised to allow the contents to be poured. The interior of the jug appears to be covered with a gold wash. The piece has hallmarks and maker’s marks on the side of the vessel but they are worn and partially legible.Provenance
