DescriptionInterior image of a large suspended ladle with glowing spot lights and a metal support beams in the background.Gallery LabelMargaret Bourke-White transformed an enormous ladle used to pour molten steel into an elegant, haunting composition. With an astute sense of light and shadow, Bourke-White embraced modern industrial forms as subjects worthy of artistic appreciation. This image brought Bourke-White to the attention of Fortune magazine, where she was hired as the first staff photographer.
