MO, June 9 – November 12, 2017, no cat.
Félix Teynard was part of a small group of archaeologist-photographers to work in the Middle East in the early 1850s. Originally trained as a civil engineer, he often focused on structural elements such as doorways, pillars, and columns. His emphasis on form is evident even in this rendering of date trees. While Teynard’s images were conceived as factual documents, they have long been admired for their elegant artistry.
