In this photograph, an extended hand appears to grasp a "bouquet" of tree limbs. The illusion results from the optical phenomenon of forced perspective, wherein subjects appear larger or smaller according to their distance from the fixed vantage point of a camera’s lens. The photograph is both document and metaphor for the artist’s spiritual, bodily connection with the natural world.
