DescriptionTwo young men standing in the foreground are dressed in festival attires. Another man behind them calls out for people to join the festival with loud wooden clappers. Behind them is a parade float for Hie Sannō Festival, one of the three major festivals in Edo. The parade winds its way through various neighborhoods around the Edo Castle where shogun awaits. The float is topped by a statue of a monkey, the messenger of god Sannō, or Mountain King, when he communicates with the world. It is now passing through South Denmachō area, a merchant area located northwest of the castle.
