DescriptionImage of man playing mandolin. The mustachioed musician is wearing a plaid hat and vest and is seated with a book open on his lap. Next to him is a small end table with a human skull resting on top of a floral tablecloth. This quarter plate uncased daguerreotype is hand-painted and housed in a white paper mat in traditional European presentation, sealed with original decorative paper tape and back with artist's paper label.ProvenancePurchased from Serge Kakou, Paris, France by The Hall Family Foundation, Kansas City, MO, 2015;
