Terry Evans was commissioned by the Amon Carter Museum to photograph the Trinity River through Fort Worth, Texas. This section of the river is an engineering feat, flowing through human-made channels to control flooding. Approaching the crowded river on a Fourth of July weekend, She quickly understood that the river was about people and not necessarily about the scenic view. A master of aerial photography, Evans made this elevated view of people enjoying a picnic on her first day of the project.
