[1] Laurence Sickman was the first Curator of Asian Art at the Nelson-Atkins. In a letter to Langdon Warner dated July 21, 1949, he described a "silver-gilt phoenix" he lent to Harvard's Fogg Art Museum. This object may be the same as described in Sickman's letter. See Harvard Pusey Library, Langdon Warner Personal Archive, box 12, folder 17.
