Louis Comfort Tiffany introduced his first lamp designs in 1898, and by 1906 his studio offered more than 125 different shades, including this rare one decorated with poinsettia plants. The intricate base, with patinated copper spirals and open structure, elevates the creation of lighting devices accommodating the new technology of electric light. The influence of Tiffany Studios was far reaching. Greene and Greene hired a former Tiffany craftsman to create decorative glass for their lighting fixtures and windows.
