DescriptionPortrait of a woman as seen through a window covered in condensation; the collar of her zippered jacket is light blue.Gallery Label
Pressed up against the small window of a Tokyo subway car, a woman peers through droplets of condensation as she makes her way to or from work. Her expressionless face, partially obscured, suggests the psychological and emotional toll such daily grinds take on the city’s many commuters. Isolating the woman from the larger context of the crowded train, Michael Wolf emphasizes the individual experience rather than the crush of passengers on Tokyo’s notoriously crowded subway cars.
