This photograph is one of a series of photographs taken by Victoria Sambunaris along the border between southern Arizona and Mexico. Working with a large format, 5x7 inch field camera, Sambunaris worked for several months along the border, a geographic and political demarcation that spans approximately 2,000 miles from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean.  Her photographs show both the continuity of the natural landscape across political borders as well as the border’s physical diversity, from dense urban environment to unpopulated desert.
