DescriptionEarthenware lidded jar with characters and scenes from the Wizard of Oz in various techniques of slip decoration: feathering, marbelizing, etc. The bulbous jar with lid surmounted by a twister carrying a house.

This enchanting jar is covered with designs taken from the popular book and movie, The Wizard of Oz. Using traditional late-17th and early-18th century English slipware pottery techniques, such as intricate combing and feathering, artist Irma Starr combines traditional methods with whimsical popular culture.
