These woman's outer boots are representative of the finely designed, highly functional and intricately tailored clothing produced by Inuit women throughout the Arctic. Such clothing was critical to survival in the region's harsh climate, but its production also served as women's primary medium of expression. The intricate geometric pattern on this pair was created through the ancient technique of mosaic skin appliqué and reflects the highest level of craftsmanship and artistic vision.
