[1] Maximilian, Prinz zu Wied-Neuwied undertook an exploratory expedition in North America in 1832-34. Artist Karl Bodmer accompanied him to pictorially document the journey. Maximilan’s notes and Bodmer’s illustrations were published as Travels in the Interior of North America (1839-41). This is the second volume of illustrations; for examples of the other three volumes (with a different provenance), see Nelson-Atkins objects 2007.16.1-3.
