DescriptionOne sixth plate daguerreotype, ca. 1850, showing a doctor holding a scalpel. Next to his arm on a cloth-draped table is a surgeon's kit. There are also several vials and glass bottles, a medical spatula, two pairs of tweezers, a mortar and pestle, two human bones, a human skull, a medical book and a flaming Bunsen burner. Housed in a full leather case with detached top.
