DescriptionImage of an open window with a small flowering plant on the sill.Exhibition HistoryRotation 25. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, October 19, 2018- March 17, 2019, no cat.
A celebrated painter, Charles Sheeler initially took up photography as a way to make a living. In 1916–1917, he made a series of photographs focused on a farmhouse he rented in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. These views, as seen here, often emphasized the architectural and geometric beauty of the house’s interior.
