Jaromír Stretti-Zamponi used the aquatint (powdered resin) etching process to enhance the soft, tonal quality of a snowy day in this print. Here, Prague Castle looms in the background, framed by two barren, snow-covered trees. The castle complex, which includes the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral and other ecclesiastical buildings, is the largest in the world. It covers an area of nearly 84,000 square yards—that’s larger than 13 football fields. Today, it is a protected UNESCO World Heritage site.
