Minnehaha Falls, located just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota, was a popular tourist attraction in the 19th century. It was also the inspiration for Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, "The Song of Hiawatha." Joel Whitney, the leading photographer in the region, photographed the falls repeatedly over the years, in all seasons.
