In personal photographs such as this, Dan Weiner brilliantly combines art and reportage, drawing visual poetry from the details of everyday life. Weiner received his first camera at the age of 15. In the following years, he took classes at the Photo League, a group in New York City that emphasized socially oriented documentary practice. After serving in World War II, Weiner was a successful photojournalist for magazines such as Life, Look, Fortune, and Collier’s.
