Roland Spedden, who owned a Detroit advertising agency, made highly inventive and experimental photographs for his own enjoyment. In this surreal image, Spedden arranged objects in a studio still life, using carefully controlled lighting and a glass prism to create a dynamic play between image, object, reflection and refraction.
