This abstract composition is from Will Connell’s 1937 series In Pictures: A Hollywood Satire. Using modernist techniques, such as photomontage and multiple exposures, In Pictures presents a witty critique of the myths surrounding the movie business. Connell was widely published and respected in his day. He later went on to found the photography department of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
