In his Stars series, David Stephenson uses various technical approaches—including lengthy, interrupted or multiple exposures—to interpret and transform the most timeless symbol of transcendence, the star-filled night sky. These photographs effect a remarkable transformation, turning vanishingly delicate beams of ancient light (thousands or even millions of years old) into boldly contemporary and deeply personal, artistic statements.
