Marion Post Wolcott to join the staff of the federally funded Farm Security Administration in 1938. She spent three and a half years photographing for the organization in New England, Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi. As seen in this image, her work often exposes the extreme divides between rich and poor and the realities of race relations during the late 1930s and early 1940s.
