Soft-focused photographs, like the one seen here, were published in Alfred Stieglitz’s quarterly, Camera Work. In 1902, he formed the group called the Photo-Secessionists. Members of the group were interested in promoting photography as a fine art equal to painting. Stieglitz was a photographer as well as an important writer, editor and gallery owner.
