DescriptionStone building facade with open windows and hite painted stripe through middle of frame.Gallery LabelAaron Siskind worked for years as a social documentary photographer before turning to a more abstract approach in the early 1940s. Throughout the remainder of his long career, Siskind used the camera in a technically “straight” manner, but sought to make photographs that transcended the specifics of subject matter alone. Siskind continued to travel to Mexico throughout the years; in this work, the isolated detail testifies to the passage of time.
