Ansel Adams worked in a sharp, technically flawless modernist style. Most of his work was devoted to the natural landscape. Typically, he depicted moments of heightened visual and emotional experience. The drama of the geyser Adams captured here shows his interest in the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere.
