DescriptionImage of a rectangular box set at an angle with dense black shadows creating abstract linear shapes.Gallery Label
A highly respected artistic and commercial photographer, Paul Outerbridge was renowned for his exquisitely crafted still lifes of the early 1920s. This image of a tin box is boldly abstract: the planes of reflected light and cast shadow, together with the stark form of the box itself, create a curious geometric and perceptual puzzle.
