DescriptionSeascape image that is evenly divided between a dark body of water with gentle waves and a clear sky.Gallery LabelThis simple view divides sea and sky into equal portions. The subtle tonalities of the photograph encourage a meditative exploration of the ocean’s physical and spiritual boundaries. Sugimoto has photographed seascapes around the world, composing each in a nearly identical manner. The artist describes his fascination for the subject: "Every time I view the sea, I feel a calming sense of security, as if visiting my ancestral home; I embark on a voyage of seeing."
