George Rickey was an accomplished kinetic sculptor, whose work, such as Two Planes Vertical-Horizontal, was inspired by the mobiles of Alexander Calder. His simple, stainless steel forms are activated and balanced through a system of meticulously engineered counterweights and bearings, air currents and the pull of gravity. In Two Planes Vertical-Horizontal, the large, dynamic, silent planes continually activate and redefine the space around them.
