Jun Kaneko's work combines Asian and Western aesthetics and is technically and artistically experimental. Reflecting on the scale of his works, Kaneko explains, "Whether I'm making a large or small object, in the end I hope it will make sense to have that particular scale and form together, and that it will give off enough visual energy to shake the air around it." Seemingly simple and static, Kaneko's large platter vibrates with a dynamic tension between the linear, graphic nature of the decoration and the subtle texture of the surface.
