On this folding fan, Wang Hui depicted a blue and green landscape on a sparkling gold background. Both sides of the fan feature paintings, signifying it as a functional object. Wang inscribed a simple phrase, “fisherman’s joy among streams and mountains,” which references a longing for a retreat to a timeless paradise.
