Dan Dillon Casement (1868–1953), Manhattan, KS, by 1944 [1];
Their gift to The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, 1944 [2].
[1] Casement was a cattle rancher and a long-time resident of Manhattan, Kansas. He earned an engineering degree from Princeton in 1890 and a master’s degree in political science from Columbia University in 1891. Casement participated in local and federal politics, during which he advocated for conservation issues, farm rights, women’s suffrage, and child labor laws. At the age of fifty, Casement served with an artillery unit during World War I. Travel records do not indicate that Casement traveled extensively overseas. The acquisition and development of his collection remains unknown.
