The bamboo prints exhibit subtle gradations of ink tones similar to those in painting. The prints occasionally reproduce "flying white," a painting technique that leaves empty background from the rapid movement of the brush. On the other hand, the simple compositions focus on the sharp, crisp profiles of bamboo branches that give these prints strong graphic presentation.

One print features a colorful bamboo image not commonly seen in paintings. The subtle gradations of green and blue attest to the printmaker's adept technique of using multiple woodblocks with tonal modulation to create the image.
