DescriptionA bearded man (Joseph) stands holding a baby boy (Christ); he hands the baby to woman (Mary) seated to his right; the three are grouped together near a small rocky stream in the center foreground of this landscape composition. Two angels kneel to the right of Mary; another angel stands behind them. Three putti float in the sky above next to a palm tree. In the right middle ground an angel leads a donkey down an embankment. In the background a gray stone pylon gate is visible, as well a hills and trees set against a cloudy, blue-gray sky.Exhibition History
