A lotus plant, rising from a lotus base is interrupted by a galloping hybrid animal, and then continues, spreading out to become an open lotus flower. This mythical animal is another example of a vyala, with a lion’s body, the head and comb of a peacock and the antlers of a deer. Both the vyala and the lotus are symbols of the life force. This object may have been a stand for the presentation of offerings.
