DescriptionThe right foreground is dominated by a large, ruined portico, set an an oblique angle. Constructed of wood and stone, it has an upper balcony at left, upon which stands a woman in red and from which a gray and white flag is suspended. Three figures appear on a wooden, zigzag staircase at lower right. A man and a woman stand near a pier at center foreground. A blue-green body of water occupies the middle ground with docked sailboats and other small craft. At the shore along the horizon is a domed Renaissance building; several narrow towers are silhouetted against a hazy blue sky.Exhibition History
