Description"Complex Forms" consists of 5 abstract geometric hard-edge crystalline forms of various heights, widths and depths. The sculptures are painted crisp white.Gallery LabelAs a conceptual artist, Sol LeWitt was primarily concerned with the realm of ideas, specifically the world of mathematics and geometry. His abstract constructions represent pure systems of mathematical measurement derived from careful calculations. LeWitt's Complex Forms expand upon his work with the cube. While the cube is regular and symmetrical, these crystalline forms are complex, suggesting those found in the mineral world. Pristine and white, they pierce the surrounding space like ice fragments, reminding us that numerical systems underlie all of nature.
