Gallery Label
The border of this drawing, decorated with birds and flowers, makes it look like a tapestry. The rocky land­scape is typical of the 16th-century mannerist taste for complexity. In the foreground, Daniel is shown in the lions’ den, and beyond him the archangel Michael tells Habakkuk, another prophet, that he must supply Daniel with food and water.
