DescriptionHorizontal format ink wash painting in broad, dark strokes. Centrally-placed long barn with low, peaked roofline. Black tree form to right of building. Open sky expanse.Gallery LabelBroad swaths of watery, black ink define the low-slung barn set within a horizontal expanse of field, fence and trees in this resonant and poetic painting. The soft tonalities call to mind the mysterious quietude that separates day from night. Suzanne Chamlin, a former guest professor at the Kansas City Art Institute, paints en plein air (in the open air) in order to capture the unique quality of a day, a season, or a fleeting moment in time.
