F. Tracy Hubbard, Brookline, MA;

With Benjamin Flayderman, Marblehead and Boston, MA, by April 17, 1931-1932 [1];

Purchased from H. Flayderman, King Hooper Mansion, Marblehead, MA through Israel Sack, Inc. by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, 1932.

NOTES:

[1] The chairs were offered for sale by Benjamin Flayderman at American Furniture Including Labeled, Pedigreed and Historic Examples from the Collection of Benjamin Flayderman, Boston, American Art Association-Anderson Galleries, April 17-18, 1931, sale no. 3908, lot 310, but probably failed to sell. NAMA records indicate the chairs were purchased the following year from H. Flayderman (most likely Benjamin’s brother Harry), and therefore the chairs stayed within the Flayderman family until their sale to NAMA.
